Fewer, Better Pages: An SEO Principle Worth Remembering

Index bloat, thin pages and cannibalisation all come from the same habit — publishing without a map.
Faisal Mahmud Tusher··1 min read

Search engines have finite attention for every site. When thousands of weak URLs compete for it, the strong pages suffer.

Symptoms

  • Indexed pages rising while traffic falls.
  • Two URLs swapping positions for one keyword.
  • 'Crawled – currently not indexed' growing in Search Console.

The fix

Map one keyword cluster to one URL. Merge overlapping pages with redirects, noindex utility pages, canonicalise filters and put internal links behind the pages that matter.

Publishing is easy. Maintaining a clean site is the real SEO work.
